How an old concrete floor becomes a new forest road
People who know Ransfords will know that we don’t waste anything*. We’re like the butcher using every part of the pig but the squeal – except the fact is we’d probably try to find a way to use the squeal. This picture shows the floor we’ve just dug out in the building where the new tray sorter is going being crushed to make road stone. This will be carted to one of our nearby forest holdings to improve the roads which run through it, thus making maintenance and harvesting operations easier. How’s that for efficiency?
*No part of the logs we mill is wasted. The bark is stripped off before milling to make landscape and horticultural products, the sawdust is collected and sold for various purposes, woodchips are dried and either sold or used to power kilns here at the mill
