We’ve brand our timber output as Great British Timber because we’re proud of the fact that we know where our timber comes from and that it hasn’t cost the earth to fell and transport it. We’re also proud of the fact that Great British Timber has created much-needed employment in the rural locations from which we extract it, and we’re proud of the great people who work here at our mill who use their skills and advanced sawmilling technology to deliver the best of British to you and your business.

The Grown in Britain brand identifies wood that has been grown in Britain and assured through our all new licensing scheme. It is a proud mark that shows where that timber has come from and provides assurance that it doesn’t just come from Britain but that the forests and woods were managed to the government’s UK Forestry and public procurement standards.
Wood for good is the UK’s wood promotion campaign. The Wood for Good campaign works on behalf of the whole timber industry in the UK. It aims to promote the suitability and sustainability of wood as a building material to the construction and logistics sectors and associated professionals such as architects and design engineers.

Key Raw Material Partners
The Commission sustainably harvests almost four million tonnes of wood every year from England and Scotland’s public forests. That’s more than a third of total domestic production. This reduces dependency on imported wood and provides low-carbon materials for the domestic wood-using industries, and for fuel and energy. The income from timber helps to offset the costs of managing the forests in our care.
As Britain’s largest land manager they are custodian of 900,000 hectares of land including some of our best loved and most spectacular landscapes. Two-thirds of the estate lies within National Parks, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty or Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
