The latest issue of our newsletter focuses on Ransfords Great British Timber at work in settings that could hardly be more different, the first a luxurious country club in North Yorkshire (pictured above) the second, meeting a huge demand for social housing in Bristol. There’s news too of the appointment of Karen Barber as our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Co-ordinator. Karen joins us with years of experience at a senior level in the automotive industry. “I was attracted by the fact that Ransfords is a hugely respected family business operating in a highly competitive industry,” says Karen. “The company is already certified to ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management Systems and for the National Highways Sector Scheme. My task will be to lead the effort to achieve similar certification in relation to safe working and our environmental impact.”
Also in cutting edge is a warning about a sawn timber price rise on the way. Our industry has endured another challenging year which, to date, has seen the cost of round logs increase by 15% to record levels. This trend seems set to continue.
